Evening League

These are the details and instructions for the Evening League of 2010.  Please read carefully, as there are several changes from those of 2009.

Entry Details

The event entry fee is £4.00 for Espoirs, Seniors and Veterans, £2 for Juniors and Juveniles and £6 for Tandems (payable at each event at sign-on desk). There is also an option to donate an additional £1 to the Rosie Hollingsworth Appeal.
Riders aged under 18 must submit a parental consent form at sign-in of the first event that they enter in the season, signed by one parent. This form can be downloaded from the CTT website.

Age Categories

Your age category is defined by your age at the start of the season (i.e. May 6th, 2010). The age category on that date will be your age category for the whole season, even if you subsequently have a birthday during the season which puts your age into another category.

The minimum age for entry is 12 years.
  • Junior – 12-15
  • Juvenile – 16-17
  • Espoir – 18-21
  • Senior – 22-39
  • Veteran 40+ 40-59
  • Veteran 60+ 60+
CTT Rules and Regulations, and Local Rules

The BRCC Evening League is conducted strictly in accordance with the CTT Rules and Regulations governing Time Trials. Please read them, even if you have competed in a CTT governed event before, as there may be some changes.

The BRCC also has Local Rules, which are as follows:

  1. Do not park a car across our neighbours' driveways, and do not park outside the Clubhouse or in the vicinity of the Start or Finish lines. You do not have permission to use the Village Hall car park.

  2. Do not loiter in the road outside the Clubhouse.

  3. Do not make u-turns in the road within sight of the Start or Finish lines.

  4. Do call out your number when crossing the finish line, to assist the timekeepers.

  5. Do not disturb the timekeepers, loiter around them, or block their view.

During the on-line registration for each event, you will be asked to declare your acceptance and willingness to comply with all the applicable CTT Rules and Regulations and Local Rules. Refusal to do this will result in your entry to the event being refused. Your contravention of any of the applicable CTT Rules and Regulations and/or Local Rules may result in your disqualification from the event, and possibly the whole League also.

The Evening League uses two courses on the lanes around our headquarters. Both routes start and finish at the BRCC Clubroom. The two routes are below:

Conditions of Entry - Staffing the Events

Each Evening League Event requires 13 members of staff, each week, to run:

  • Time Keepers x2
  • Pushers-off x2
  • Signs x2
  • Number Takers x2
  • Refreshments x2
  • Signing-on Desk x1
  • Stewards x2

View current staffing status...

If there is a shortfall in any of the above staffing numbers, the event cannot take place.  It is therefore a condition of entry that all entrants (BRCC members or otherwise) make themselves available to carryout one of the roles listed for an hour (6:30-7:30, or 7:30-8:30) either after or before, respectively, that they ride the event.

Please contact the Evening League organisers to arrange your shift roster.

When you are rostered to carryout a staffing role, you will need to register a start-time either early in that event, or late in that event, as required, so that you can be available to take your staffing role during the hour for which you are rostered. A number of start-times have been marked "Reserved for Staff" at the start of the event, and at the end of the event, for this purpose. Staff members should register for a start-time in the usual way, but choose one of the reserved numbers, as appropriate.

No staff-member will be asked to sacrifice their participation in any event as a result of their role as a staff member, but if you volunteer not to ride in any particular event, and you are still available to help staff that event, your services will be gratefully received.

Start Numbers Reserved for Staff
During the registration process you will see up-to 7 numbers annotated "Reserved for Staff" at the beginning of the event, and up-to 7 more at the end of the event.  These start numbers are reserved strictly for those persons who are rostered to help staff the respective event.

When all the staff have chosen their required start times, the Reservation notices will be switched off, and any remaining start-times will be available for anyone to select.

If anyone, who is NOT helping to staff the respective event, should pick one of the reserved start-times whilst the "Reserved for Staff "annotations are present, their registration may be deleted by the Event Organiser, and no alternative start-time will be offered.

Alternatively, the registration will be considered an offer to help staff the respective event, and one of the event organisers will be in touch in due course to provide details of the registrant's staffing duties for that event.

Start-Time Registration

You must register on-line, a Start-Time for each event.  To do this, click the link on the Evening League banner at the top of the Homepage.  Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your details and select your Start-Time.

You will receive an email as a record of your start-time for that event. Your registered start-time applies only to the event named and dated on the email.  You must register another start-time for each subsequent event you wish to enter.

You can register a start-time up-to from the Sunday evening prior to the respective event.  There is no cut-off date/time for start-time registration, and you can register a start-time even after the event has commenced, providing there is a start-time available. Remember you need time to register, pay and collect your number before getting to the start line.  Late arrivals will not be allowed to ride the event.

There are 90 start-times available for each event.  The Evening League banner at the top of the
Homepage will tell you how many start-times are still available for you to choose from for the nearest forthcoming event.  If all start-times have been registered prior to the commencement of the event, the on-line event registration will close, and will be replaced by a form which allows you to sign-up as a reserve.

If there are no start-times available for the event and you would still like to compete in that event, please do sign-up as a reserve
.

Please note that Private Time Trials will not be recorded.

If you cannot get internet access in the week prior to the event you wish to enter, please call 01234 843350, and you can place your start-time reservation over the phone.  Alternatively, you can ask someone else to make the reservation on-line on your behalf.

The Leaderboard

The Leaderboard will be projected in the Clubroom for the duration of each event.  Each rider's time and average speed will be displayed on the Leaderboard as soon as the respective rider crosses the finish line.

A progress bar will be shown on the Leaderboard (firefox browser only) from the time each rider commences their ride, and will indicate the rider's approximate position around the course, up to the time that the rider crosses the finish line.

The Leaderboard will also indicate each rider's previous Personal Best time for the course (if the rider provided that information at registration), plus the rider's Personal Best time for the season (determined automatically).

The Leaderboard will also be accessible online, and will be updated online in real-time as the riders cross the finish line.

A
Ranked Result Board can also be viewed online. This shows, for each event (1-14), all results ranked in order of increasing finish-time.  You can also filter the results by Gents/Ladies and/or Age Category.  The Ranked Result Board will be updated in real-time as the riders cross the finish line.

The League and the Prizes

The League
The League is calculated from the average speed of each entrant's fastest ten rides. The ten rides must comprise 5 x 10-mile events plus 5 x 11.3-mile events.

Prior to ten events being completed, a guide to each entrant's performance in the league is provided from the average speed of all rides completed so far.  This may not however, provide a 100% true projection of the outcome of the League, especially where entrant's have not as yet competed in an equal amount of 10-mile and 11.3-mile events.

The League so far...

The Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to those coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category, provided each category contains at least 4 entrants who qualify (by completing the minimum number of time trials described above).

Where only 2 riders qualify in a category, only 1st prize will be awarded.
