A big thank you to the committee for proposing and implementing the
optional levy on the Evening League as a fund raising scheme for Rosie. A
special thank you to Andy for negotiating monies out of riders!
The actual figures aren’t yet available but should be around £550 from the
levy alone so a very massive thank you!
We also received several direct donations from individual riders which
added an extra £80 - a very big thank you to those individuals (we are very
touched by your generosity).
We had also been in contact with our local scout group (I had done some
flyers and tickets for free for their centenary ball). They have not only
promised a cheque for £100 but have also offered a trailer for the planned
Flitwick – Paris ride next year. One of the ladies also regularly produced
the wonderful sponge cakes!
And so to the cakes themselves! The amount raised varied quite
considerably but we averaged around £20 per week with a profit margin of
around 60% should see around another £170 added.
We have recently had a cheque from Brecklands Cycling Club (which has the
Special Olympics Group that Rosie belongs to attached to it). Rosie also
sold plants and held a tombola before she left college.
Current total stands therefore at around - £950.00!!! Almost half way.
I still have a signed Geraint Thomas jersey to raffle too!
Rosie has had one training weekend in Runcorn, where she met the rest of
the Cycling Team as well as most if not all the GB Team.
She has another training weekend soon in Glasgow followed
by another one in the Midlands.
