We hope everyone who attended the dinner enjoyed themselves. We had 67 bookings this year, many new faces, and many regulars, just the way it should be!

The club has grown dramatically in the past year, so we really needed a larger venue for this, our 86th dinner. The Park Inn on Bedford's Embankment was chosen, as it is central to most members, overlooks the starting point for the club run and has the necessary capacity.

The feedback so far has been very positive but please, don't be shy, if there was anything not to your liking, or if you have any suggestions for future events, please let our new Social Secretary Gary Cairns know so we can do it even better next year.

Cliff Dixon kindly agreed to act as Master of Ceremonies and did a great job, especially as he was filling in for our intended guest speaker who sadly couldn't make it on the night. Cliff's recounts of his antics as a traffic officer in the north east were hilarious, and Cliff also provided the PA system and background music.

We ended the night with a raffle, proceeds collected by Sharon and Margaret, and many thanks to everyone who donated a prize. The money went to Medecins Sans Frontieres, particularly relevant given the tragic disaster in Haiti that week. We didn't, however, want to forget our traditional charity of choice, The Sue Ryder Trust at Moggerhanger, so we matched the money raised for MSF, and the next morning sent cheques totalling £418.00, which I am sure will be put to good use.

Thank you all so much for your generosity! And, of course, congratulations to everyone who was awarded a Trophy.

A special note of thanks to Graham Laming who in the absence of a 2009 Social Secretary stood in to make sure this event took place. Graham's huge efforts over the year have not gone unnoticed, as he picked up the Velocipede Trophy - the Club Members choice of best new Club Member. Chapeau Graham!
